About Your Instructor
Marcus Brodsky is an experienced musician with a passion for sharing his musical knowledge to future generations of musicians. Born and raised in New York, Marcus has over 15 years of experience in violin/viola playing and education.
As an orchestral musician, Marcus has performed in renowned venues such as Weill Recital Hall, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, LeFrak Concert Hall, and the Adelphi Performing Arts Center under the batons of Adam Glaser, Scott Jackson Wiley, Mark Powell, Harry Marenstein, Sandra Dackow, Susan Deaver, and Matthew Pierce. He has earned positions including Principal Viola of the Queens College Symphony Orchestra, Queens College Baroque Ensemble, and the Gemini Youth Symphony Orchestra. He has also participated in numerous Long Island String Festival Association (LISFA) and Nassau Music Educators Association All-County Festivals.
An avid chamber musician, Marcus has worked with chamber music coaches including Daniel Phillips, Marcy Rosen, Morey Ritt, and Magdalena Filipczak and has participated in masterclasses with violists Martha Katz and Tim Frederiksen.
Marcus holds a Music Performance degree from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College where he studied with Brett Deubner.
Aside from music, Marcus enjoys photography, videography, drinking coffee, finding new vegan recipes, and spending time with his family. You can find his other digital creations on Instagram! He currently plays on a viola made in 2016 by Polish Violin Luthier, Sebastian Ordziniak purchased fromLukas Wronski Violins. His viola is photographed below.
