About Your Instructor
Marcus Brodsky is a seasoned musician and dedicated educator from New York with over 15 years of violin and viola experience. As the owner and lead instructor of Sky String Studios, he maintains a thriving studio of 40 students across Nassau County. With a decade of teaching experience - including a former studio of 20 students at a local music school - Marcus has guided students to top placements in New York’s All-State, All-County, Juilliard’s MAP, LISFA, MYO, GYO, and LIYO ensembles.
As an orchestral musician, Marcus serves as Principal Viola of the South Shore Symphony and has performed at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium/Perlman Stage, Weill Recital Hall, and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. He previously held leadership positions in the Queens College Symphony and Gemini Youth Symphony.
Marcus studied at the Aaron Copland School of Music under Brett Deubner and currently studies with Dovid Friedlander, former Associate Concertmaster of the North Carolina Symphony. He earned his Suzuki certification through training with Suzuki Teacher Trainers Mark Mutter and Jenna Potts, and has worked with distinguished chamber coaches and masterclass clinicians. Outside of music, he enjoys photography, videography, and crafting creative coffee recipes. He performs on a 2022 violin and 2016 viola crafted by Polish luthier Sebastian Ordziniak of Lukas Wronski Violins photographed below.
